San Francisco based artist, Laura Ann Jacobs says her mother told her to never play with her food. Thank God Laura didn't listen.
Laura enjoys the look and feel of creating utilitarian and art pieces from food. For "Dining on the Ritz" she constructed a table and chairs (five inches high) using real saltines. In the casting process, the food is vaporized leaving the mold, which is then filled with bronze. The last step involves Laura's careful painting of the bronze to once again look like the real thing.
